Portrait of a "friendly" golf game

I actually shot two different things, but this one was easier to edit together...so here is a golf game under portrait. For those who might be confused, it is sort of a montage (silent film esque) of a bet between friends, and how they try to cheat each other. For the location--well it is outside of Tuscaloosa (was out of town last weekend for a friends wedding--I hope they don't mind that I took the equipment!) and shot at a golf course/park. The DP and AD are friends of mine.

  1. it was nice to see the camera moving with the head and eyes of the subject, it helped give it the silent film feel. also, nice use of space in the open golf course, especially since you only had 2 subjects in the frame.

  2. Very entertaining! Your piece reminds me of the old school comedies like the 3 stooges. Good Job!

  3. This definitely gave me the feeling of an old silent classic. Very, very physical. Speeding it up gave it that feel for sure. I also liked how the framing allowed for many of the gags to work with one person's back turned to the other and such.

  4. I really liked the XCU of the golfball when yall hit it great depth of field. Also thought it was creative speeding it up to seem like an old school slapstick comedy.

  5. This is really well done as a silent Charlie Chaplin type goofball comedy. The wide shots really make the golf course feel wide open and its nice to see all of what they are doing.

  6. Very entertaining, I enjoyed how the video made me feel like a spectator and showed me where to look following the golfball and the action.

  7. I liked the feel of a Three Stooges skit. I think the footage being sped up helped with that. I also liked that as the day when on, the lighting really showed that it had been a full day. It was relatable and the wide shots of the two guys actually on the green really illustrated the event you were trying to portray.

  9. It certainly had that silent film aura to it. Nicely done.

  10. Like everyone else, I really liked how this seemed to be a modern day version of an old black and white comedy skit. One shot that I liked in particular was one of the early ones where the characters are walking down a hill and the sun creates a huge lens flare that obscures everything else. It felt really dramatic and made a simple golf game feel like something much more epic.
